Strange Bird

B went out to get food for Skoshi last week, and found an egg sitting in amongst the rest of the dog food. We frequently have birds come into the garage, and thought they were just resting before flying up to the nest that is in the vent just above the garage (yes, it’s unsightly, but we can’t bring ourselves to knock it down).
Apparently this bird thought our dog food bin was cozy enough to call home - and heck, there’s plenty of food (and it’s the good, all natural herring and sweet potato stuff - this bird has taste). Either that, or she thought we’d make good adoptive parents. Well, she’s lucky we didn’t blindly scoop her progeny up for Skoshi’s breakfast - although I doubt Skoshi would mind much.
As it was, I merely plopped the egg out amongst the shrubbery where I suspect it will come to a grim fate... but not sure I can do much about that. Maybe it’s best that a bird who will lay her egg on top of a preditor’s food stash not reproduce.
